Lead Coach, Senior Group
The Southwest Aquatic Team (SWAT) is a year-round USA Swimming competitive swim team offering high-quality professional coaching and technique instruction for all ages and abilities and an affiliation with a non-competitive “Swim America” program. As one of the premier USA swim clubs in the Midwest, SWAT prides itself on creating a positive environment and enriching experience for all members of the club with the goal to provide every member an opportunity to improve swimming skills and achieve success at his or her level of ability, from novice to elite-level competitor.

Under the supervision of the Competitive Program Director, the Lead Coach of the Senior Group is responsible for the leadership and direction of SWAT’s Senior group ensuring that all aspects of the program fulfill the mission, vision, and goals of the team.

Essential Functions:

Coaching

  • Serve as the lead coach of our Senior group and attend all practices, meet sessions and functions.
  • Create full-season training plans for stroke technique progression, training progression, dryland, and taper strategies for our Senior group.
  • Manage meet entries for athletes in assigned group.
  • Effective communication with coaches, swimmers, and families of objectives and goals for athletes.
  • Works with senior athletes, senior swim coaches, and parents to ensure that athlete development plans are created, and timelines are understood and supported. This includes developing and supporting plans for athletes interested in swimming in college, when required.

Leadership

  • Lead our team’s mission and philosophy to empower swimmers of all ages and abilities to become the best they can be in the sport of competitive swimming.
  • Act all times with integrity and as a positive representative of SWAT to the membership and the community at large.
  • Foster a culture of team unity among staff, swimmers, and families.
  • Collaborate with competitive program director and lead coaching staff to provide continuity and training progressions across all training groups.
  • Maintain and increase overall club participation, including participation at the highest levels of the sport. (i.e., Wisconsin State Championships, NCSA Championships, Speedo Sectionals, etc.).
  • Other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Competitive Program Director and/or Board of Directors.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Five-plus years of coaching excellence at the Senior level (club/high school/YMCA) that features tangible improvement by elite and developmental swimmers.
  • Member in good standing with USA Swimming and current on all certifications.
  • Extensive background in competitive swimming, stroke mechanics, and understanding of USAS rules and regulations.
  • Prior experience in a leadership role of training, managing, and developing assistant coaches is preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organizational skills, and motivational skills with a strong sense of personal integrity.
  • Experience using Team Unify, Hy-Tek, and Meet Manager.
  • Track record of fostering a culture of team unity among swimmers, parents and staff.
  • Knowledge of strength and conditioning training, dryland, and functional movement.
  • Enthusiasm for continuing coaching education.
  • Legal authority to work in the USA with a valid driver’s license.

Compensation and Benefits:

Competitive Program Director
Under the supervision of the Board of Directors, the Competitive Program Director is responsible for the leadership and direction of SWAT’s Competitive Swimming program ensuring that all aspects of the program fulfill the mission, vision, and goals of the team.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides vision, leadership, and management of the day-to-day operationsof the successful, values-oriented SWAT competitive swimming program,including senior competitive teams, junior competitor teams, age group(including 8 & under) competitive teams, and master’s program. Thisincludes regular visits to each of the sites to ensure high standards ofprogram quality and excellence as well as positive relationships with allstaff, parents, and athletes.
  • Work in partnership with Wisconsin Swimming and other stakeholders andfurther develop the team’s position as a leading program in Wisconsin.
  • Recruits and hires staff and volunteer positions.
  • Provides vision, leadership, and management to the SWAT lead coaches,while also providing mentorship and support to all part-time staff thatincludes coaching and leadership traits to ensure a high-quality swimprogram.
  • Models’ relationship-building skills in all interactions. Leads the implementation of open, clear, consistent, and effective communication with athletes, parents, staff, volunteers, and coaches.
  • Actively builds collaborative working relationships with area high school coaches, area high school athletic directors, area park and recreation departments, and the Board of Directors.
  • Abides by the ASCA and USA Swimming Code of Ethics. Enforces Team and LSC Policy and Procedures. Serves as a role model for the coaches and swimmers and ensures adequate representation of SWAT, including but not limited to attendance at the annual LSC meeting.
  • Manages all aspects of SWAT’s financial and business functions ensuring budgeted goals are met while following all business guidelines. Works in conjunction with business team members to achieve stated goals.
  • In conjunction with the Business Manager and Treasurer, drafts monthly financial reports for Board of Directors.
  • Proactively manages team expenses and deck management of assistant coaches, including compensation.
  • Attends team Board of Directors meetings and provides monthly reports as to the status, policies and activities of the team and its staff.
  • Regularly provides coaching support to ensure consistency across sites as well as provides technical guidance and coaching to all staff.
  • Develops and implements a program performance strategy while regularly analyzing and evaluating the overall SWAT team strategy to ensure alignment. This includes coordinating the athlete advancement process to ensure consistent implementation across all groups.
  • Works with group coaches to provide opportunities for family involvement. These opportunities include volunteering at meets, individual meetings, and special event participation.
  • Lends leadership and guidance to the Swim America Director by supporting the Swim America program in planning lessons and supporting activities related to recruitment to the competitive swim program.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with all outside vendors. This includes understanding current and future pool space needs to ensure they are met, managing SWAT hosted meets and end of year banquet, sponsorship plans, and meet schedules.
  • Other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Board of Directors.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Must pass USA Swimming and SWAT background check and drug test requirements.
  • Proven team management skills
  • Experience in the development, implementation, and execution of a comprehensive competitive swim program.
  • Current USA Swimming Coaching Certification
  • ASCA Level 5 Coaching Certification strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Team Unify and Hy-Tek products a plus.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Annual salary of $24,000 per year, with the expectation that the Competitive Program Director will work approximately 10-15 hours per week. This amount may be higher or lower depending on the needs of the Team in any given week.

Head Coach
Watertown Aquatic Team is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to fill the position of Head Coach for our competitive swim team. We are a small but mighty team with a parent-led board. We have two pools: Watertown and Waterloo. As the Head Coach, you will lead and inspire our athletes to achieve their full potential both in and out of the pool. If you have a passion for coaching, a commitment to excellence, and a desire to positively impact the lives of young athletes, we want to hear from you. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and implement comprehensive training programs for swimmers of all levels, from novice to elite, focusing on technique, endurance, and mental preparation. 
  • Provide instruction and feedback to athletes during training sessions, emphasizing proper stroke mechanics, turns, starts, and race strategies. 
  • Plan and conduct structured workouts that align with the goals and objectives of the team and individual swimmers. 
  • Foster a positive and supportive team culture that promotes sportsmanship, respect, and camaraderie among athletes, coaches, and parents. 
  • Attend and actively participate in swim meets, both locally and regionally, serving as a mentor and coach to athletes during competition. 
  • Collaborate with assistant coaches and other staff members to coordinate team activities, travel arrangements, and meet logistics. 
  • Communicate regularly with swimmers and parents regarding training schedules, performance expectations, and team policies. 
  • Assist in recruiting and retaining talented swimmers by promoting the club's programs and fostering relationships within the swimming community. 
  • Stay current with developments in the sport of swimming, including new training techniques, equipment, and competition rules. 

Qualifications: 

  • Previous coaching experience at the club, high school, or collegiate level 
  • Strong knowledge of competitive swimming principles and techniques, including proficiency in stroke mechanics, training methodologies, and race strategy. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire athletes of all ages and abilities. 
  • Current certification in lifeguarding, CPR, and first aid (or willingness to obtain certification prior to the start of employment). 
  • A commitment to promoting a safe and inclusive environment for all athletes, regardless of background or ability. 
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, as needed to accommodate practice schedules and swim meet commitments.

Swimming (Boys) Head Varsity Coach

STARTING STIPEND: $3,570+

SUMMARY: To help each participating student achieve a high level of skill development, an appreciation for the values of student connectedness, discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem.  The philosophy of a varsity team dictates that as many athletes as possible should participate without sacrificing a chance for the program to enjoy competitive success.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
 
OVERALL DUTIES

  • Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
  • Establishes and sustains a level of success in the following areas: participation in the 9-12 program, relative competitiveness at the conference level, and responses on student-athlete satisfaction surveys.
  • Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted.
  • Pursues and maintains competency in understanding and enforcing WIAA, Big 8 Conference and school board rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains, monitors, and reacts to daily attendance reports and participant emergency medical cards necessary.
  • Develops a consistent and positive public communications procedure demonstrating interest and enthusiasm through the school and media to inform and promote the specific athletic program.
  • Acts as a liaison with the booster clubs.
  • Keeps other coaches informed of rules and other relevant changes within the particular sport.
  • Demonstrates knowledge in the areas of physical and emotional health and safety.
  • Encourages students to participant in multiple activities in and out of school.
  • Works closely with High School Athletics and Activities Director in scheduling contests, recommending the purchase of equipment, and maintaining a program budget.
  • Uses generally accepted practices and discretion in determining the proper course of action; using good decision-making skills.  Demonstrates emotional maturity.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

PRE-SEASON DUTIES 

  • Plans, communicates and runs a pre-season meeting for prospective student-athletes and their parents to communicate team schedule, policies and procedures.
  • Develops and distributes a team handbook by the first team meeting to include at least the following: practice schedule, team rules and policies, coaching philosophy statement, special dates and events, game schedule, team tryout process and criteria, lettering policy, how  parents/students should communicate with head coach, and how players earn playing time.
  • Attends and participates in Athletic Department sponsored athletic code meetings and successfully completes an annual National Federation of High School Athletics exam.
  • Attends annual clinics or workshops that aim to enhance knowledge of the specific sport or other area as assigned by administration.
  • Selects and defines responsibilities of student managers.
  • Determines and communicates responsibilities of assistant coaches.  Provides inservices for assistant and sub-varsity coaches via staff meetings, program goals, duties definition and expectations, etc.  Recommends assistant or volunteer coaches to the High School Athletics and Activities Director.

IN-SEASON DUTIES 

  • Takes the initiative to communicate activity on a regular basis to the High School Athletics and Activities Director.
  • Plans and executes a regular program of practice in season.
  • Develops and completes practice plans for each practice session.  Provides documentation for each practice session upon request of administration.
  • Maintains accurate statistics, records, and results of the season.

POST-SEASON DUTIES 

  • Collects, inventories, and arranges to clean and repair all equipment.  Provides inventory documentation upon request of administration.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises students of particular program.
 
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Assistant Swim Coaches
The Southwest Aquatic Team (SWAT) is not-for-profit competitive swim team located in the southwest section of the greater Milwaukee area.  Our program is one of the top ranking teams in Wisconsin and carries over 100 swimmers.  We have a dedicated volunteer-based parent board, pride ourselves as athlete focused and a coach supported organization.  We also have a swim school affiliated with our program serving as a feeder system.    

SWAT is looking for a reliable, motivated and enthusiastic coaches to assist with our program.  Positions are available with different age groups or certain nights of the week.  Our groups are divided between different characteristics such as age, commitment, skill and fitness levels. 

Partial responsibilities of an assistant Coach are listed below. 

  • Current USA Swimming certifications or willingness to obtain within two months of employment.
  • Assist or administer practices scheduled to help.
  • Attend meets on the schedule if necessary. 
  • Communicate with the swimmers while at practice.
  • Complete other tasks as determined by the Program Director. 

This position could consist of 6 to 20 hours a week depending on the particular group coaching and personal availability.  Compensation will be based upon experience and is highly competitive to other area swim programs.  Definite start date is Monday, March 29th or until filled. 

We are looking for candidates with a dynamic personality, passionate towards swimming, dependable and have strong communication and organizational skills.  Our ideal person will have (but not required) competitive swimming experience and live somewhere near the greater Milwaukee area or willing to move into the region. They will also possess high moral character, strong ethics and will value the hard work in developing young athletes.  Our coaches are role models to our athletes and mentors to our staff.  We have a rich foundation of excellence and a culture of not only bettering swimmers but also bettering people.  We do this by fostering lifetime skills though examples and experiences.

Lead Senior Group Coach
Lake Country Swim Team is seeking a coach to lead our Senior Sterling Silver training group.  The position also includes serving as an assistant and substitute for our Senior Gold practice group and other Senior training groups.  This can be a full-time or part-time position depending on the qualifications and availability of the candidate.  The part-time position has an hourly rate of $22-$30 per hour depending on the experience of the candidate.  Full-time compensation is comparable, and it includes a medical insurance stipend, matching IRA contributions, performance bonus plan, meet travel expenses and private lesson and clinic opportunities for additional income.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a group lead coach for our Sterling Silver practice group including the administrative and communication responsibilities associated with that position.
  • Prepare and administer practices for assigned group based on training plan developed in collaboration with the Senior Head Coach and Head Coach.
  • Attend meets scheduled for assigned practice group.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and swimmers regarding group objectives and swimmer development.
  • Model excellent character promoting values like hard work, commitment, integrity, teamwork, sportsmanship, etc.
  • Assist and substitute practices as needed.
  • Other administrative tasks assigned by the Head Coach.

Qualifications:

  • Current Coach Member in good standing with USA Swimming, or the ability to become certified.
  • Current Lifeguard certification or ability to become certified.
  • Coaching experience and proven success with both developmental and elite swimmers
  • Ability to manage and develop assistant coaches.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Head Coach
Job Classification: Part-Time
Reports to: Recreation Program Coordinator
Supervises: Tosa Aquatic Club Assistant Coaches

The Tosa Aquatic Club Head Coach is a part time position responsible for the direct supervision of the Tosa Aquatic Club (USA Competitive Swim Team) and Assistant Coaches as assigned. Tosa Aquatic Club is based in Wauwatosa, WI, a suburb of Milwaukee. This position requires solid leadership, but more important a dedication to coaching swimmers to reach their full potential. A successful candidate will possess a high degree of patience, dependability and a strong commitment to communication with Recreation Program Coordinator, assistant coaches, parent board and swimmers and parents.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess current Red Cross Lifeguarding certification.  Water Safety Instructor (W.S.I.) certification or equivalent experience/training preferred (instructor is responsible for updating and keeping certification current). Able to obtain Safety Training for Swim Coaches, and USA certification within 60 days of hire, or show proof that it has been completed, and maintain USA Coaching certifications and standards.  Must also be able to pass the USA Swimming background check and Wauwatosa School District background check prior to final hire.
  • Have at least 3 years of coaching background; Club Head coaching experience desired.
  • Have a passion for competitive swimming, enthusiasm for working with young athletes, and be able to teach and motivate swimmers with a positive approach.
  • Available for at least 4 weeknight practices (and any morning practices added to the schedule, or the ability to schedule coaches for morning practices)
  • Maintain discipline and safety at practices. Develop a system for determining what the problem is and how to handle it (i.e. talk to swimmer, call caregiver, have swimmer sit out of practice, etc). Inform Assistant Coaches of procedures.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Seek out, interview and secure assistant coaching staff as needed, with approval from the Program Coordinator. Confirm potential assistant coaches with Recreation Coordinator on preferred hire (Program Coordinator will reach out to the candidate to complete the hiring process).
  • Set practice times for groups in the allotted time available.
  • Develop daily practices and conduct practices.
  • Organize stroke clinics.
  • Ability to write/modify practices for various levels of ability
  • Work with Assistant Coaches to develop daily practice plans and seasonal plans; encourage coaches to write their own practices with guidance from the Head Coach.
  • Have a strong knowledge of stroke and swimming technique 
  • Coach weekend meets or designate/assign coaches to club designated meets and notify the Recreation Department, in advance, of who will be the coach on deck. 
  • Encourage swimmers to participate in USA swimming sanctioned swim meets and assist parents in determining which events would be appropriate for their child to swim. 
  • Organize relay teams/events for designated meets.
  • Keep track of coaches hours at meets and submit a list of meets with coaches hours for payroll.
  • Inform Recreation Coordinator of coaches meeting for payroll purposes.
  • Work closely with the Wauwatosa Recreation Department Program Coordinator and TOSA Aquatic Club Parent Board.  Attend monthly board meetings.
  • Pick meets for the season with the Parent Board
  • Develop a method, along with the assistant coaches, for setting goals for the team and individual swimmers.
  • Establish and enforce rules of conduct for practices and at swim meets (this includes in the pool, locker rooms and general school areas)
  • Communicate with parents and swimmers (check ins, feedback, concerns, etc) including, but not limited to, concerns about coaches and addressing those concerns.
  • Maintain Team Unify website (designate someone in case of emergency)
  • Manage/Maintain/Update team and swimmer records
  • Maintain Concussion Information and Acknowledgement Forms
  • Schedule (book facility space through rec), organize and facilitate New Swimmer Meeting as well Team Meeting.

Assistant Aquatics Director
Under the direction of the Aquatics Director provide general oversight and safety of members and guests at the Kettle Moraine YMCA aquatic facilities. Provide general oversight for pool decks, aquatic facilities and swimming pools. 

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provide direct oversight of daily pool operations.
  2. Enforcing safety rules, supervising/protecting guests/swimmers, rendering first aid/emergency care and monitor lifeguard performance expectations.
  3. Work with the Aquatics Director to oversee the scheduling of employees
  4. Monitor and maintain oversight for operating equipment including First Aid kits
  5. Keeps record of aquatics staff certifications and ensure all staff maintain current certifications
  6. Provide general oversight to assure and achieve consistent operating practices 
  7. Perform oversight of daily facility maintenance and sanitation duties to provide and maintain a safe and aesthetically inviting aquatic facility for guests/swimmers
  8. Plan, schedule and conduct in-service training for Aquatics staff.
  9. Develop, implement, and monitor programming and schedules for Aquatics operations
  10. Clearly describe and assign responsibility and authority for the operation of the department.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

  3. Current Lifeguard Certification and current YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor Certification, (YSL) or American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, (WSI) preferred; certifications required within 60 days of hire.
  4. Strong communication and leadership skills.
  5. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  6. Valid Driver’s License.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  1. Ability move quickly in emergency situations, strenuous activity at times and on occasion assist or lift persons in distress of varying weights.
  2. Required to remain alert and vigilant while sitting, standing, or walking for various lengths of time.
  3. Regularly lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
