Full-time Coach
Alto Swim Club is the premier USA swimming team in the Palo Alto and Stanford area; our mission is to be the best developmental and high performance swim team in the United States. We offer a comprehensive swim program for all athletes, from the beginner swimmer to the Olympian.
We are looking for a full-time coach to join our close-knit coaching team and community. The Coach will lead two of our 12 & Under groups, and assist with multiple other groups in our Age Group program. The coach will be involved in all aspects of team development and management. A typical week will include approximately 25 hours of on-deck coaching and 15 hours of administrative duties.

Head Coach
The Tosa Aquatic Club Head Coach is a part time position (up to 32 hours/week in season, though occasionally may be more during championship season) responsible for the direct supervision of the year-round competitive Tosa Aquatic Club (USA Competitive Swim Team) and Assistant Coaches as assigned. Tosa Aquatic Club is a growing team and club with long-standing history based in Wauwatosa, WI, a suburb of Milwaukee. This position requires solid leadership, but more importantly, a dedication to coaching swimmers to reach their full potential. A successful candidate will possess a high degree of patience, dependability and a strong commitment to communication with Recreation Program Coordinator, assistant coaches, parent board and swimmers and parents.
Qualifications:
- Must possess current Red Cross Lifeguarding certification, or have the ability to obtain within 60 days. American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (W.S.I.) certification or equivalent experience/training a plus.
- Able to obtain Safety Training for Swim Coaches, and USA certification within 60 days of hire, or show proof that it has been completed, and maintain USA Coaching certifications and standards.
- Must also be able to pass the USA Swimming background check and Wauwatosa School District background check prior to final hire.
- Swim Coaching experience, with 2 or more years on a competitive team.
- Have a passion for competitive swimming, enthusiasm for working with young athletes, and be able to teach and motivate swimmers with a positive approach.
- Background in competitive swimming, stroke mechanics, age-appropriate dryland training techniques, USA swimming rules and regulations.
- Available for at least 4 weeknight practices (and any morning practices added to the schedule, or the ability to schedule coaches for morning practices )
- Maintain discipline and safety at practices. Develop a system for determining what the problem is and how to handle it (i.e. talk to swimmer, call caregiver, have swimmer sit out of practice, etc). Inform Assistant Coaches of procedures.
Essential Job Functions:
- Seek out, interview and secure assistant coaching staff as needed, with approval from the Program Coordinator. Confirm potential assistant coaches with Recreation Coordinator on preferred hire (Program Coordinator will reach out to the candidate to complete the hiring process).
- Training of coaching staff to ensure consistency in program as a whole. As well as ensure coaching staff has required certifications.
- Season planning and daily workouts, and coordination with coaching staff on season planning and practice group workouts.
- Ability to work with and maintain professional relationships with recreation staff and high school coaches.
- Schedule coaching coverage for practices and meets.
- Develop daily practices and conduct practices.
- Organize stroke clinics.
- Ability to write/modify practices for various levels of ability.
- Have a strong knowledge of stroke and swimming technique.
- Coach weekend meets or designate/assign coaches to club designated meets and notify the Recreation Department, in advance, of who will be the coach on deck.
- Encourage swimmers to participate in USA swimming sanctioned swim meets and assist parents in determining which events would be appropriate for their child to swim.
- Organize relay teams/events for designed meets.
- Coordinate and lead team coach’s meetings.
- Keep track of coaches’ hours at meets and submit a list of meets with coaches’ hours.
- Inform Recreation Coordinator of coaches meeting for payroll purposes.
- Work closely with the Wauwatosa Recreation Department Program Coordinator and TOSA Aquatic Club Parent Board. Attend monthly board meetings.
- Responsible for timely submission of meet reservations and entries or designate another coach to help.
- Develop a method, along with the assistant coaches, for setting goals for the team and individual swimmers.
- Establish and enforce rules of conduct for practices and at swim meets (this includes in the pool, locker rooms and general school areas)
- Effectively communicate with swimmers, parents and recreation department (check ins, feedback, concerns, etc) including, but not limited to, concerns about coaches and addressing those concerns.
- Maintain Team Unify website (designate someone in case of emergency), Meet Manager and basic MS Office skills.
- Manage/Maintain/Update team and swimmer records.
- Maintain Concussion Information and Acknowledgement Forms.
- Schedule (book facility space through rec), organize and facilitate New Swimmer Meeting as well as annual Team Meeting.
Physical Requirements:
- The employee must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation. Physical requirements will include sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing, pulling.
- Standing and walking 100% of the time during daily workouts and swim meets.
Compensation:
The position is flexible with number of hours per week depending on the group coaching and availability. Compensation will be based on coaching and competitive swimming experience.

Lead Coach, Senior Group
The Southwest Aquatic Team (SWAT) is a year-round USA Swimming competitive swim team offering high-quality professional coaching and technique instruction for all ages and abilities and an affiliation with a non-competitive “Swim America” program. As one of the premier USA swim clubs in the Midwest, SWAT prides itself on creating a positive environment and enriching experience for all members of the club with the goal to provide every member an opportunity to improve swimming skills and achieve success at his or her level of ability, from novice to elite-level competitor.
Under the supervision of the Competitive Program Director, the Lead Coach of the Senior Group is responsible for the leadership and direction of SWAT’s Senior group ensuring that all aspects of the program fulfill the mission, vision, and goals of the team.
Essential Functions:
Coaching
- Serve as the lead coach of our Senior group and attend all practices, meet sessions and functions.
- Create full-season training plans for stroke technique progression, training progression, dryland, and taper strategies for our Senior group.
- Manage meet entries for athletes in assigned group.
- Effective communication with coaches, swimmers, and families of objectives and goals for athletes.
- Work with senior athletes, senior swim coaches, and parents to ensure that athlete development plans are created, and timelines are understood and supported. This includes developing and supporting plans for athletes interested in swimming in college, when required.
Leadership
- Lead our team’s mission and philosophy to empower swimmers of all ages and abilities to become the best they can be in the sport of competitive swimming.
- Act all times with integrity and as a positive representative of SWAT to the membership and the community at large.
- Foster a culture of team unity among staff, swimmers, and families.
- Collaborate with competitive program director and lead coaching staff to provide continuity and training progressions across all training groups.
- Maintain and increase overall club participation, including participation at the highest levels of the sport. (i.e., Wisconsin State Championships, NCSA Championships, Speedo Sectionals, etc.).
- Other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Competitive Program Director and/or Board of Directors.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Five-plus years of coaching excellence at the Senior level (club/high school/YMCA) that features tangible improvement by elite and developmental swimmers.
- Member in good standing with USA Swimming and current on all certifications.
- Extensive background in competitive swimming, stroke mechanics, and understanding of USAS rules and regulations.
- Prior experience in a leadership role of training, managing, and developing assistant coaches is preferred.
- Excellent communication, organizational skills, and motivational skills with a strong sense of personal integrity.
- Experience using Team Unify, Hy-Tek, and Meet Manager preferred.
- Track record of fostering a culture of team unity among swimmers, parents and staff.
- Knowledge of strength and conditioning training, dryland, and functional movement.

OCSC is looking for a reliable, motivated and enthusiastic coach to assist with our program. Under the supervision of the Head Coach and Program Director, the assistant coach would be responsible for assisting with group practices, guide individual swimmers and technique and assist younger age groups during meets.

Head Swim Coach
The Head Swim Coach is a full-time, exempt position within the Village of Pleasant Prairie RecPlex Aquatics Division of the Recreation Department. Under the general supervision of the Director of Recreation Programming, this position is responsible for the overall management and program development for the Pleasant Prairie Patriots (PX3) Swim Team. This position requires a minimum of 40 hours per week and has a flexible schedule but will require regular weekend and evening availability based on programming and supervision needs.
Job Duties
- Oversees all aspects of daily swim team operation in support of swimmers, membership, team mission, and values.
- Organizes quality swim and dryland practices and implements athlete development and training plans.
- Supervises, schedules, and hires all Age Group Swim Coaches for respective practices and swim meets and ensures proper employee coverage; fills in as a coach when needed.
- Manages swim team budget; and conducts evaluations of the program and assesses effectiveness and makes recommendations to leadership regarding programming changes or enhancements.
- Schedules swim meets, hosts swim meets at the RecPlex, and submits championship meet bids

- Work is conducted primarily in an indoor fitness/recreation environment with regular exposure to high and low temperatures and humidity, slippery surfaces, and pool chemicals.
- Requires frequently sitting, walking, standing, typing and movement about the RecPlex building, pool deck, and office spaces.
- Occasionally requires the ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl and lift 10-40 pounds.

- A Bachelor’s degree in Recreation & Sports Management, Business, or similar field preferred.
- 3+ years of coaching various ages and skill levels in a competitive environment; supervisory experience preferred.

Assistant Coaches
The Elmbrook Swim Club is looking to hire assistant coaches for all levels of our program (Novice - Senior). This position would report directly to the head coach and work closely with a group lead coach on the preparation / instruction / training of our EBSC swimmers. DeForest Aquatic Club (DFAC) is a not-for-profit, year-round competitive swim team located outside of Madison, in DeForest, WI. Our team is seeking for reliable and passionate coaches to add to our growing program.

Performance Responsibilities:
- Serve as the head coach.
- Assume the responsibilities for the development of the specific teams within the total program, and under the direction of the Athletic and Activities Director.

PRE-SEASON DUTIES
- Plans, communicates and runs a pre-season meeting for prospective student-athletes and their parents to communicate team schedule, policies and procedures.
- Develops and distributes a team handbook by the first team meeting to include at least the following: practice schedule, team rules and policies, coaching philosophy statement, special dates and events, game schedule, team tryout process and criteria, lettering policy, how parents/students should communicate with head coach, and how players earn playing time.
- Attends and participates in Athletic Department sponsored athletic code meetings and successfully completes an annual National Federation of High School Athletics exam.
- Attends annual clinics or workshops that aim to enhance knowledge of the specific sport or other area as assigned by administration.
- Selects and defines responsibilities of student managers.
- Determines and communicates responsibilities of assistant coaches. Provides inservices for assistant and sub-varsity coaches via staff meetings, program goals, duties definition and expectations, etc. Recommends assistant or volunteer coaches to the High School Athletics and Activities Director.
IN-SEASON DUTIES
- Takes the initiative to communicate activity on a regular basis to the High School Athletics and Activities Director.
- Plans and executes a regular program of practice in season.
- Develops and completes practice plans for each practice session. Provides documentation for each practice session upon request of administration.
- Maintains accurate statistics, records, and results of the season.
POST-SEASON DUTIES
- Collects, inventories, and arranges to clean and repair all equipment. Provides inventory documentation upon request of administration.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises students of particular program.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Coaching in the particular sport, with at least 3 to 5 years of experience. Experience at the middle/high school level preferred. First aid, CPR, and Blood Borne Pathogen training is required. Knowledge in sports medicine is desirable.
COMMUNICATION AND LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of students, parents or employees of the district.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Exhibit qualities of leadership and organizational ability and reflect a spirit of cooperation in working with staff and school administration. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective professional working relationships with students, staff and the community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in verbal and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements, WIAA requirements, and School Board policies. Ability to use computers and other technology to accomplish job responsibilities.
